Alex is a lecturer in Law at Oxford Brookes University. His research focuses predominantly on deploying queer and post-structuralist methodologies to understand, critique, and evaluate the inter-relations of gender, "sexuality", and state administrative institutions. Alex's current focus is on how the UK Home Office approaches issues of evidencing sexuality within the asylum claims of sexually diverse people. Alongside this, he has contributed to projects looking at the socio-legal significance of the (de)criminalisation of HIV transmission. Alex has also previously conducted research into the impact of Brexit discourses on the structures and operation of UK constitutional norms such as Parliamentary Sovereignty.
